The Ensemble Capella Concertante is a classical wind quintet from Austria. All musicians involved are teachers at the Upper Austrian State Music School.

history

The ensemble was founded in 1985 in Freistadt . Founding members were Mathias Kreischer (Director of the State Music School Freistadt until Aug 2015) and Markus Presenhuber (Director of LMS Haslach). The original formation consisted of the classical harmony music lineup , which consists of two oboes , two clarinets , two horns and two bassoons . From this classical octet a quintet was created in the same year with the instruments flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon. The ensemble members were: Wolfgang Deutsch - flute, Gerhard Spreitzer - oboe, Mathias Kreischer - clarinet, Johannes Konrad - horn, Markus Presenhuber - bassoon.

Instead of Johannes Konrad, Hubert Ecklbauer (director of the State Music School Stadl-Paura) has been part of the ensemble as horn player since 1993. Wolfgang Deutsch ended his membership in 2002. Clemens Umbauer, also a teacher at Upper Austria, took over his position on the flute. Landesmusikschulwerk. In 2011, Gerhard Spreitzer left the ensemble. The oboist Magdalena Bauer has been part of the ensemble since 2012. From 2006, depending on the program, a double bass was added to the line-up.

This was a common procedure for the tonal design of depth in the harmony music ensemble. Peter Harringer joined the double bass ensemble in 2006. Since 2010 this part has been taken over by Anton Neulinger (teacher at the Upper Austrian Landesmusikschulwerk until Aug 2016). The ensemble repeatedly sets musical priorities with soloists (piano, saxophone, harp, vocal).

Since autumn 2017 the ensemble has expanded into a "Mini Salon Orchestra" with the name Capella Salonisti. In addition, the line-up was supplemented with a string quartet (2 violins, viola, cello), resulting in new and sonically interesting aspects and musical possibilities.

activities

Concert tours have taken the ensemble to Argentina and Bolivia (2018), Namibia (1993, 2010), Brazil and Chile (1995), Hungary (1996), South Tyrol (1997), Belgium (1998), Greece (2007), Spain (2011) and South Africa (2010, 2012, 2014, 2016). In cooperation with the street children project Alalay, a benefit concert was held for this institution in La Paz (Bolivia).

During these trips, Capella Concertante repeatedly sought collaboration with regional musicians. There was also cooperation with music schools in Bekeszcaba (Hungary), La Serena (Chile) and Cape Town . During this collaboration, schoolchildren or students were instructed on site by the ensemble members. In 1997 the CD "Auslese" was produced in cooperation with the Weinberg studio.

On December 31, 2015, a New Year's Eve concert took place in the Salzhof Freistadt to mark the 30th anniversary of the ensemble.

Special appearances were also a concert in the open house in Oberwart Burgenland with works by Upper Austrian contemporary composers in collaboration with Wolfgang Kubizek (1996) and an appearance at the international chamber music festival "ALLEGRO VIVO" in 1998 at Rappottenstein Castle .

Another highlight was the performance of the European cantata for octet and choir by Gunter Waldek in Brussels on the occasion of the Austrian EU presidency (1998).
