Wolfgang R. Kubizek

Wolfgang R. Kubizek (born January 13, 1959 in Wels ; † June 7, 2008 in Vienna ) was an Austrian composer .

Career

Kubizek attended the music high school in Linz from 1975 to 1976 and then the music high school in Vienna until 1980 . He studied in Vienna and Linz. In 1975 he won first prize in the “Jugend musiziert” competition in the field of composition. On March 15, 1996, his chamber opera Monologue with a Shadow - a Wind Opera was premiered in the Mozart Hall of the Konzerthaus in Vienna. His symphony The Angels of Los Angeles was played for the first time on April 30, 1996 in the great hall of the Wiener Musikverein .

On the occasion of his 60th birthday at the beginning of 2019, his colleague Christoph Cech organized a concert in Oberwart that was intended to reflect Kubizek's musical diversity on the basis of the various participating artists. It was recorded by Ö1 and broadcast on several dates.
