Gunter Waldek

Gunter Waldek (born July 26, 1953 in Linz ) is an Austrian educator , composer and conductor .

Live and act

In his youth he received piano , organ and music theory lessons at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz . After graduating from high school in 1971, he studied music pedagogy , musicology and Romance studies at the Mozarteum and the University of Salzburg . In 1977 he graduated with a teaching degree and master's degree. He completed his further studies ( conducting , choral conducting and composition ) with Helmut Eder with a Magister artrium. In 2004 he completed his habilitation in composition. In 1990 he became deputy director and from 2004 to 2008 he was vice-rector of the university.

From 1977 he taught at grammar schools in Linz and Salzburg. From 1982 he took over the composition and theory class at the Bruckner Conservatory from Helmut Schiff .

Works

The church opera Das Hohe Lied (1993) and A Somewhat Strange Dinner, Musical Music Theater (1994) were particularly successful. His extensive oeuvre (more than 150 compositions since 1980) includes various branches:
