The name Capelli d'angelo comes from Italian, where it means something like angel hair. She was already known in Rome in the 17th century.

The Capelli d'angelo are usually 0.78 millimeters in diameter and extremely thin, similar to spaghetti, from the Italian cuisine . They are often confused with capellini , which are a little thicker. Capelli d'angelo are the thinnest pasta in the world and the thinnest type of spaghetti. They are made from durum wheat semolina and, despite their small thickness, are boil-proof and, with a cooking time of three minutes, they are one of the fastest noodles to cook. They are mostly used as a filler in broth or in combination with very light sauces .
