Cappella Sansevero (also known as Cappella Sansevero de 'Sangri or Pietatella ) is a small Baroque church with numerous marble sculptures north of Piazza San Domenico Maggiore , in the center of the old town of Naples , Italy . It was built in 1590 as the tomb of the di Sangro family and was the private chapel of Raimondo di Sangro (1710–1771), Prince of Sansevero, a noble inventor and alchemist, and was restored by him in the 18th century. Since the prince was a member of the Freemasons , there is an abundance of Masonic symbols in the artwork and on the floor.

Particular attractions of the church are the Veiled Christ ( Cristo velato ) by Giuseppe Sanmartino (1720–1793), The Disappointment ( Disinganno ) by Francesco Queirolo and The Chastity ( Pudicizia ) by Antonio Corradini . In the Tiempetto, two anatomical models by Giuseppe Salerno (1763–64), the skeleton of a man and a pregnant woman, whose vascular system is represented by a network of wax-coated wire, are kept behind glass.
