Captain Berlin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Captain Berlin is a West Berlin superhero invented by the author and director Jörg Buttgereit . Captain Berlin made his debut in 1982 in a self-produced short film. Since 2013 Captain Berlin has been published as a comic series by Weissblech Comics .

history

prehistory

As a teenager, Jörg Buttgereit (* 1963) made his first horror and monster films in Super 8 film format in West Berlin in the early eighties , including the deliberately trashy short film Captain Berlin - Savior of the World with Bela B. Felsenheimer . In the eleven-minute film from 1982, the robotic villain and archenemy Mister Synth kidnaps Captain Berlin's secret love, Miss Priscilla. In 1984 the Super 8 sequel Captain Berlin followed against Hyxar .

Radio play and play

The West Berlin superhero mutated into a radio play protagonist after the turn of the millennium. For the WDR Jörg Buttgereit 2006 wrote the radio play Captain Berlin vs. Dracula . In 2009 the radio play will become the play Captain Berlin vs. Hitler celebrating its premiere at the Hebbel Theater (HAU1) in Berlin. For the DVD recording of the play, Rainer F. Engel drew the comic Operation Untergang as an encore in collaboration with Levin Kurio . The superhero Captain Berlin became a comic hero for the first time.

Captain Berlin as comic hero

In 2013, a regular issue was first published by Weissblech Comics , and Captain Berlin has been part of the WC universe ever since. In addition to the already existing story Operation Downfall , a new one, Captain Berlin vs. Fukuda , added.

Like its forerunners Superman and Spiderman, Captain Berlin has an inconspicuous everyday identity and is called Fritz Neumann's real name. CB's opponents are often real dictators from history such as Adolf Hitler , North Korea's Kim Jong-il and Erich Honecker , but also fantasy figures such as Mister Synth and Ilse von Blitzen. The stories are deliberately trashy and humorous in their plot and dialogues (comparable to the Radioactive Man of the Simpsons), and thus parody the style of the American superhero comics of the sixties.
