Caramba is a fun music project by the Swedish sound engineer and producer Michael B. Tretow with the singer Ted Gärdestad and other musicians from the ABBA environment .
background
In 1981 he recorded an album of happy songs in the styles of different countries. In addition, nonsense texts were sung, which should sound like the respective national language. All those involved also chose nonsense names for the credits, so that to this day only a few of them are known. In addition to Tretow and Gärdestad, who included Caramba songs in their greatest hits compilations, only ABBA accompanying drummer Roger Palm and Björn Skifs from Blue Swede are certain. It was released under the fictional label name Trash Records .
The most famous song of the project is Hubba Hubba Zoot-Zoot . It became a number one hit in Sweden and Norway and other European countries as well. In Germany, the piece ran in the credits of the sketch music show Bananas .
