Blue Swede was a Swedish rock band from the 1970s.

Career

It was founded in 1972 by Björn Skifs , a very well-known musician in Sweden . The band recorded the song Hooked on a Feeling , with which two other performers had previously been successful: BJ Thomas in 1968 and Jonathan King 3 years later. The song became a hit for the third time and reached number 1 in the US . In the German singles charts, the title reached number 22. In the same year, the group scored another hit in the US with Never My Love (originally by The Association ) Follow-up hit that reached number 7 in the charts.

After 1975 the musicians moved back to Sweden and released further records under the name "Björn Skifs & The Blablus".

In 2014 the group and their song Hooked on a Feeling achieved another success, because the song used in the trailers for the Marvel blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy sold over 2,000 times within a few days and thus managed to set a digital sales record for this song to reach.
