Carambar chewy candies

Carambar is the name of a French chewy candy brand, manufactured by Mondelēz International and since 2017 only on behalf of the new brand owner CPK Group (Carambar & Co. SAS) based in Issy-les-Moulineaux , which was founded by the investment company Eurazeo . The name is a suitcase word from the words caramel and barre (bars); it alludes to the content (a blend of caramel and cocoa ) and its elongated shape. The product was first manufactured in 1954.

At the end of August 2018, negotiations between German Katjes International and CPK began on a merger of the French confectionery activities.

history

The candy was first produced in 1954. The production of the Carambar resulted from a production error. A candy factory produced elongated caramel candies due to machine failure. It was decided to sell them anyway. They became a great success among the youth and children. A specialty and French tradition is that the packaging paper of the Carambar has jokes that are known in France as "blagues Carambar". As the most famous blagues Carambar, a message went down in history, the maker of the candy. It was announced on March 21, 2013 that the jokes on the candy wrapper would be replaced with grammar exercises. Four days later, the joke was broken up by the company, which provided great relief.

Product types

Over time, other varieties have been developed:

A special feature is the packaging , which for the amusement of the consumer on the inside with jokes or wisdom is printed. The jokes have a reputation for not being very good. That is why in France they say when someone is not particularly funny "Your joke is as funny as Carambar".
