action

John Cardinal is a police officer in the fictional city of Algonquin Bay in the Canadian province of Ontario . He was recently fired from the homicide squad for having gone too far in his investigation into the case of a missing Native American girl, in the opinion of his superiors. When the girl's body turns up, the detective and his new partner Lise Delorme are put on the case. What he doesn't know: Delorme has been hired to monitor him as part of a federal police corruption investigation because Cardinal may be working with a local drug dealer who has repeatedly evaded arrest. The investigation soon expanded, however, when a new missing person case of similar patterns led Cardinal to believe that a serial killer might be active in the area.

Reviews

“A thoroughly compelling thriller.” - Wall Street Journal

“The different storylines are not only combined with one another, but also cleverly interwoven. Like the treacherous Canadian winter, Cardinal grabs us slowly but surely: What begins with a few snowflakes ultimately ends in a slippery ice carom. ”- zeit.de

"86% recommendation on Rotten Tomatoes , rating 7.7 / 10 on IMDb." - IMDb
