The Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe ( CIRSE ), the European Society for Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology , is an international medical association for radiologists with an interventional focus or sub-specialization in cardiovascular radiology (examinations and interventions on the heart and arteries ). It has approx. 7,000 members, mainly the members of 37 national professional societies who have joined as group members, including all European, e.g. B. the German DeGIR , the Austrian ÖGIR , and the Swiss SSVIR . 80% of the members work in Europe. The seat of the association is Vienna . Individual members are charged € 250 / year. The current (2017) President is the Athens radiologist Elias Brountzos .

CIRSE creates and publishes specialist guidelines, position papers, manuals and similar normative documents for its members. It operates the European School of Interventional Radiology (ESIR) with a defined curriculum, advanced training courses and an online database for conference presentations, abstracts and other documents. Members of their European Board of Interventional Radiology committee can voluntarily be tested and certified in interventional radiology. Every year the society organizes a large congress in different European cities (2011 also in Munich ); CIRSE 2016 in Barcelona had 6,700 participants. In addition to the general annual meetings, the IDEAS (Interdisciplinary Endovascular Aortic Symposium), the ECIO (European Conference on Interventional Oncology), the ICCIR (International Conference on Complications in Interventional Radiology) and GEST Europe (Global Embolization Symposium and Technologies) are held.

The journal CardioVascular and Interventional Radiology , founded in 1978, serves as the official organ of CIRSE.
