The Cardno Point is a towering, flattened and tussock grass -covered headland which the eastern foothills of Bird Iceland before the western end of South Georgia is. It is located on the north side of the eastern entrance to Bird Sound .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1964 after Lieutenant Commander Peter G. N. Cardno of the Royal Navy , navigator on HMS Owen during hydrographic surveys of this area between 1960 and 1961.
