The Carey's Ford Bridge is a historic road bridge in Miami County in the US state of Kansas in the United States . The bridge is located northwest of Osawatomie , southeast of Stanton on 335th Street and spans the Marais des Cygnes River ( Eng .: Swan Swamp River ). It is crossed by an average of 40 vehicles per day (as of 2006). Although the bridge is still open to road traffic, it was replaced with a new bridge in 2008. This is located about one kilometer northeast on Pressonville Road .
The bridge, completed in 1909 by the Kansas City Bridge Company , has a total span of 48.5 meters, the length is 76.7 meters, the width of the deck and the headroom are both 4.7 meters. The foundation is made of metal . Other building materials are wood and steel . The construction is based on the Parker (Camelback) truss .
According to the National Register of Historic Places , the bridge had historical relevance from 1900 to 1924.
The Carey's Ford Bridge was on January 4, 1990 by the National Register of Historic Places added with the number 89002179 as a historical monument.
