Carina Nel

Carina Nel (born January 4, 1988 ) is a South African theater and film actress .

Life

Nel studied acting at Tshwane Technical University in Pretoria and graduated with a Bachelor with Honors .

After graduating, she toured with the What Walrus? in schools in Pretoria and the surrounding area. She then played in many theater productions by director Quintin Wils and author Jannes Erasmus. In the solo program Suster she played seven different personalities.

In the movie Queen of Katwe about the Ugandan chess player Phiona Mutesi , which was released in 2016, Carina Nel played the role of the Canadian chess player Dina Kagramanov , against whom Mutesi had played at the 2010 Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansiysk .

In the soap opera Generations , which ran on SABC 1 from 1994 to 2014 , she played the role of Isabelle for two and a half years. Since 2016 she has played in double roles as the doctor Alexa Welman and the vicious Amanda Lous in the South African soap opera 7de Laan , which runs on SABC 2. A kissing scene of fair-skinned Carina Nel with dark-skinned actor Nicholas Nkuna in 7de Laan in January 2019 received a lot of criticism on social media.
