The Caritas Association for the Archdiocese of Bamberg is the umbrella organization of the organized Caritas ( Latin for charity , high esteem ) and welfare association of the Roman Catholic Church in the Diocese of Bamberg .

The association is a corporate member of the German Caritas Association , Landesverband Bayern e. V. In 2012 he looked after 191,759 people.

history

The Caritas Association was founded on February 7, 1921.

structure

The association, which is under the supervision of the Archbishop of Bamberg , is divided into district and city associations. The Diocesan Caritas Association currently has 823 facilities with around 28,428 places. There are currently over 10,000 full-time employees at Caritas Bamberg.

Every year 191,769 people in the archdiocese are cared for by Caritas agencies.

The statutes of the Caritas Association for the Archdiocese of Bamberg e. V. specifies that the association has three organs: the board, the Caritas council and the representative assembly.

Supervisory board

The supervisory board consists of up to nine members and the chairman. The archbishop appoints the chairman and four members, one member is appointed by the staff assembly and four members are appointed by the representative assembly.

Representative Assembly

The representative assembly consists of the voting members (two representatives each of the branches, one representative each of the corporate members, the order and the diocesan council in the Archdiocese of Bamberg) and the advisory members (the board of directors, the supervisory boards, the managing directors of the subsidiaries, the director of the Caritas association Nuremberg, one member each of the employee representatives of the association and of the subsidiaries as well as one representative each of the associated organizations).
