Carl-Alexander Graubner (* 1957 ) is a German civil engineer for building construction and civil engineering and since 1996 professor at the Technical University of Darmstadt . Since 2007 he has been a member of the TU Darmstadt University Assembly and since 2012 chairman of the mirror committee “Masonry” at DIN.

biography

Carl-Alexander Graubner studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Munich from 1977 to 1981, specializing in structural engineering. He then worked from 1982 to 1988 as a research assistant at the Institute for Solid Construction at the Technical University of Munich , where he received his doctorate in early 1989. From 1989 to 1994, he worked in the construction industry as a technical department manager at Philipp Holzmann / Held & Francke Bau AG in Munich. During this time he was involved in the planning of a number of large building projects, industrial and bridge construction. From him u. a. the static calculation of a wide-span integral prestressed concrete bridge over the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal near Berching in Bavaria, which has attracted worldwide attention. Furthermore, he and his planning team were also responsible for the structural design of the BASF ethylene factory in Antwerp. From 1994 to 1996 he ran his own engineering office in Munich. B. the draft and the cost estimate for the planned Transrapid route from Hamburg to Berlin. Graubner has been a partner and member of the management team at KHP König und Heunisch Planungsgesellschaft mbH in Frankfurt since 2001 . As a test engineer for structural engineering, he has accompanied a large number of large projects in recent years, such as the MyZeil shopping center or the new building for the European Central Bank in Frankfurt. He is currently working on the major project FOUR , a new ensemble consisting of four high-rise buildings in Frankfurt, as well as various new buildings at Frankfurt Airport . In 2009 he and partners founded Life Cycle Engineering Experts GmbH, which deals with sustainability consulting in the construction industry.

In 1996 Graubner was appointed full professor to the chair for solid construction at the Technical University of Darmstadt. He is currently the Managing Director of the Institute for Solid Construction and was a member of the university assembly from 2007 to 2017. He played a leading role in the development of the German Seal of Approval for Sustainable Building and has been advising various federal and state ministries on questions of sustainable building for many years. He is chairman of the standardization committee NA 005-06-01 “Masonry” at DIN and a member of several expert committees of the German Institute for Building Technology. He also represents German interests in European standardization committees in the field of masonry construction. Since 2018 he has been Deputy Chairman of the German Committee for Masonry (DAfM). Graubner is co-editor of the book series “Mauerwerksbau aktuell” and a member of the editorial board of the magazine “Mauerwerk”.
