Carl-Hermann Hempen

Carl-Hermann Hempen (born April 25, 1948 in Emden ) is a German internist and author of various publications on traditional Chinese medicine .

Life

Carl-Hermann Hempen studied medicine and received his doctorate in 1973 from the University of Munich . From 1976 to 1984 he trained as a specialist in internal medicine in Munich . From 1975 he was a student and employee of the sinologist Manfred Porkert .

In 1978 Hempen was a co-founder of the Societas Medicinae Sinensis (SMS), which he presided over from 1984 to 2002. He has been running his own practice in Munich since 1984. He is examiner for the acupuncture department at the Bavarian Medical Association and lecturer at the University of Witten-Herdecke . Since 2011 he has been honorary professor for traditional Chinese medicine at the Technical University of Munich .

Hempen is the author of textbooks on traditional Chinese medicine.
