The Carl-von-Ossietzky-Park is a three hectares large park in the Berlin district of Moabit . It is named after the Nobel Peace Prize laureate Carl von Ossietzky , who is commemorated by a plaque in the park.

location

The park borders the Alt-Moabit street to the north , Paulstraße to the east, Melanchtonstraße to the south and Spenerstraße to the west. The Moabit correctional facility and the Spree-Bogen are in the immediate vicinity .

history

In today's park area was located in 1895 and built in the Second World War destroyed Villa plow the architect Gustav Knoblauch (1833-1916). Between 1960 and 1965 the park was redesigned by the landscape designers Wilhelm Alverdes and Hans Niemann , the former was already involved in the redesign of the Great Zoo .
