The main headquarters of the Bolle dairy, founded in 1879, was located in the area . All the production and logistics departments were located in the brick building there between the Spree and Alt-Moabit Street. One of the first Berlin cinemas was housed in the head building of the Alte Meierei, which later, as the theater of the Berliner Kammerspiele, introduced countless primary school children into the world of theater.

In 1989 the area was bought by the entrepreneur Ernst Freiberger . From 1994 the site developed - after exchanging space with the neighboring Focus Teleport site - into an office and business park that housed the Federal Ministry of the Interior between 1999 and 2015 , which was the only Federal Ministry to work in rented rooms. The further use of the Spree-Bogen building is still open.

A restaurant ship is also anchored on the Spree. The Memorial Street of Remembrance is open to the public at the Spree-Bogen.
