Ernst Freiberger

Ernst Freiberger (born August 11, 1950 in Munich ) is a German entrepreneur and investor.

life and work

He is the son of the master baker Ernst Freiberger senior (1927–1997) from Amerang in Chiemgau . This began in 1949 with the production of ice cream , which he initially sold through bakery branches and kiosks in the Wasserburg am Inn area . He expanded its sales channels and delivered his ice cream EFA ( E rnst F Reiberger A Merang) exclusively at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. In the following year he sold his company to Südmilch and in 1990 founded the EFA Museum for German Automobile History in Amerang.

Ernst Freiberger grew up in Amerang. After graduating from high school, he studied business administration at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. In 1976, he took over a small bakery for frozen pizzas in Moabit , threatened with bankruptcy , which, according to the company , he expanded in Berlin-Reinickendorf to become Europe's largest manufacturer of frozen pizzas, baguettes and pasta products (→ Freiberger Lebensmittel ).

After he had sold a share in the company to Südzucker , Freiberger acquired the Humboldtmühle in Tegel in 1989, which today houses one of his Medical Park clinics . In 1994 the Spree-Bogen was added, where Freiberger erected an office building that between 1999 and 2015 u. a. was also the seat of the Federal Ministry of the Interior . Today, on the area of ​​the former Bolle dairy u. a. Doctors, company and government administrations, the Hotel Abion Spreebogen Waterside and the Bolle ballrooms. In addition, his company operates and develops the forum on the Museum Island in Berlin-Mitte with the former main telegraph office on Oranienburger Straße and the former Charité women's clinic between Tucholskystraße and Monbijoustraße . This historic and listed building ensemble is currently being redesigned; modern office space, high-quality apartments, a hotel, shops, restaurants and exhibition areas are being created.

Freiberger operates thirteen specialist clinics and outpatient health centers with medical-therapeutic services for rehabilitation and prevention under Medical Park AG. The clinics are mainly located in Upper Bavaria, three on the Chiemsee , one on the edge of the Berchtesgaden National Park , three in Bad Wiessee on the Tegernsee, two in Bad Feilnbach , one in Bad Rodach and one each in Bad Camberg , Bad Sassendorf and Berlin.

In 1994 Freiberger founded the Ernst Freiberger Foundation named after him , which is socially and politically committed.
