Georg Elser bust by Kay Winkler on the street of remembrance

The street of remembrance is a publicly accessible monument in the Spree-Bogen in the Berlin district of Moabit . It consists of several sculptures with which the Ernst Freiberger Foundation honors personalities who, primarily in the first half of the 20th century, “achieved extraordinary things and demonstrated an exemplary attitude in the most difficult times”.

concept

The foundation describes the honored persons as heroes without swords . With this, the founder of the foundation, Ernst Freiberger , wants to show that "in the first half of the last century there were also positive heroes - heroes without swords - in Germany". In order to keep the memory of these personalities alive , this monument was created on the Spree-Bogen, at that time in the immediate vicinity of the Ministry of the Interior .
