Carl August Pesch

Carl August Pesch (* 1735 ; † February 27, 1791 in Braunschweig ) was a German violinist and composer.

Life

Little data is known about the life of Carl August Pesch. After 1760 he entered the service of the Duke of Braunschweig, where he worked as concertmaster until his death. He taught the Hereditary Prince, who later became Duke Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand , who in turn later became important as a patron of the artistic development of the Braunschweig violinist and composer Louis Spohr .

Works

Carl August Pesch composed sonatas for violin and bass, sonatas for two violins and bass, duets for two violins, violin concertos and a solo sonata in B flat major for violin alone.
