Carl Bergstrøm-Nielsen

Carl Bergstrøm-Nielsen (born July 28, 1951 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish composer , improvisation musician and music therapist .

Life

Bergstrøm-Nielsen studied musicology at the University of Copenhagen from 1970 to 1984 ( Candidatus magisterii 1984). From 1971 to 1977 he was active in the Group for Alternative Music. In 1971 and 1975 he worked in the Holstebro Electronic Music Studio (HEMS). From 1984 to 2014 he taught music therapy at Aalborg University , where he gave courses in graphic notation and intuitive music (ensemble improvisation and composition).

From 1975 he played in the Group for Intuitive Music (together with Jørgen Lekfeldt and Niels Rosing-Schow ). In 1978/79 he appeared together with John Tchicai and Jan Kaspersen under the name ABFA . In 1990 he became a member of the Intuitive Music Group. He composed several works. He received orders a. from Numus Festival (1988) and from Warsaw Autumn (2016). Among the interpreters of his music were u. a. Kwartludium , the Edges ensembles and the Vestjysk Chamber Ensemble .

He is a member of the London Musicians' Collective , the Danish Composer's Society and the Ring for Group Improvisation.
