Carl Bernhard Dietz (born March 25, 1870 in Coburg , † April 22, 1943 in Bremen ) was a German educator and politician ( National Liberal Party and German People's Party ).
biography
Dietz was the son of a master tanner. He attended high school in Meiningen and Coburg and studied the newer languages in Munich , Berlin and Leipzig . He received his doctorate as Dr. phil. He then worked as an assistant teacher in Saxony . In 1897 he received a teaching position at the commercial school in Bremen . In 1906 he became director and professor of the new high school on Dechanatstraße ( Lüderitzschule / grammar school on Parsevalstraße ) in Bremen. His leadership style is said to have been very patriarchal. He remained director of the school even after the reform of the 1919 directorate constitution.
Before the First World War he was a member of the National Liberal Party . From 1909 to 1918 he was a member of the Bremen citizenship . After the war he was a member of the DVP and worked on the party's executive committee in Bremen. In 1919/20 he was a member of the constituent Bremen National Assembly and from 1920 to 1933 he was again a member and parliamentary group chairman of his party in the Bremen citizenship.
In February 1933 he advocated a continuation of the experimental schools founded by reform-minded teachers and spoke out resolutely against a National Socialist motion against it. As a result of his conflicts with the Nazis during this period, he was given leave and dismissed as director of the school on March 30, 1933. His successor was Dr. Friedrich Hackenberg.
