Carl Friedrich Rudolf May (born February 2, 1768 in Schöftland ; † November 21, 1846 ) was a Swiss politician.

Carl Friedrich Rudolf May was the son of Carl Friedrich May and Julia Dorothea Steiger. He was trained by private tutors, followed by four years at Gottlieb Konrad Pfeffel's École militaire in Colmar and two years at the University of Göttingen . May was the sole owner of the Rued estate from 1790 and had the Rued Castle rebuilt by Carl Ahasver von Sinner after a fire from 1792 to 1796 . From 1803 to 1808 he was the Grand Councilor of the canton of Aargau, from 1803 to 1814 Oberamtmann of the Kulm district , then from 1814 Bernese Grand Councilor and 1815 commissioner in Nidau and Erguel. He married Johanna Margareta von Steiger, daughter of Niklaus Friedrich von Steiger . His youngest son was Friedrich Amadeus Sigmund von May .
