Carl Gustav Fernlund

Carl Gustav Fernlund (* 1950 ) is a Swedish lawyer and former judge at the European Court of Justice .

Live and act

Fernlund graduated from Lund University in 1975 with a degree in law and completed his legal clerkship at Landskrona District Court three years later. He then worked as an assessor, from 1982 as a judge at a Swedish Higher Administrative Court. From 1983 he worked in various departments at the Swedish Ministry of Finance. From 1998 to 2000 Fernlund was an Economic Councilor at the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the European Union and then returned to the Swedish Ministry of Finance as Finance Councilor. From 2005 to 2009 he was a judge at the Supreme Administrative Court of Sweden and subsequently headed the Higher Administrative Court of Gothenburg as President until 2011. Fernlund was a judge at the European Court of Justice from October 2011 to October 2019 .
