Carl Christoffer Haglund

Carl Christoffer Haglund (born March 29, 1979 in Espoo ) is a Finnish-Swedish politician of the Swedish People's Party (SFP) and was the Finnish Minister of Defense from 2012 to 2015 .

Haglund graduated from Mattlidens Gymnasium, studied at the Swedish Business School in Helsinki and graduated with a master's degree in economics . From 2001 to 2005 he was general secretary of the sfp youth organization Svensk Ungdom . He then founded the Finnish-Swedish free newspaper Papper and managed it until 2007. Then he returned to politics as an employee of sfp ministers Astrid Thors and Stefan Wallin . In 2008 he was promoted to Wallin's State Secretary in the Finnish Ministry of Culture.

Haglund went through local, district and state boards at sfp. He was a member of Espoo City Council . From 2009 to 2012 he was a member of the European Parliament . Nils Torvalds moves up for him .

On June 10, 2012, Haglund was elected to succeed Stefan Wallin as party chairman of the sfp. Shortly thereafter, on July 5, 2012, he replaced Wallin as Minister of Defense in the Katainen cabinet . After the parliamentary elections on April 19, 2015 , his party was no longer involved in forming a government; He was replaced as Defense Minister by Jussi Niinistö (True Finns) on May 29, 2015 ( Sipilä cabinet ). He held the office of chairman of the sfp until 2016.

Carl Haglund is married and has two children.
