Carl Hemming

Carl Hemming (born May 21, 1867 in Runkel ; † around 1933) was a German decorative painter and politician ( DVP ).

Life

Carl Hemming, learned the subject of decorative painting at the Kunstgewerbeschule Düsseldorf , and was co-owner of the Carl Hemming u. Witte in Düsseldorf , there in Kapellstrasse, Cologne and Aachen , a company for decorative painting and interior design that had specialized in monumental buildings. In addition to his professional activity, he was a board member of the Association for the Economic Interests of the Applied Arts Berlin, the Association of German Decorative Painters Munich and the Hansabund .

Hemming was a city councilor in Düsseldorf from 1912 to 1918. In February 1921 he was elected for the German People's Party (DVP) as a member of the Prussian state parliament, of which he was a member until 1924. In parliament he represented constituency 22 (Düsseldorf-Ost).

In 1933, Carl Hemming, now retired, was listed in the Düsseldorf address book as the owner of the houses at Kapellstrasse 34 and 36 in Derendorf, where his son Walter also lived and worked as a decorative and artist painter. In 1893, Hemming married Alma, born in Uri, in Düsseldorf, who survived him and continued the business with her daughter Erna Retzlaff-Hemming (* 1900). The son Hans (* 1896) died in the First World War in early December 1917 near Graudenz .
