Carl Ludwig Capelle

Carl Ludwig Capelle (also Karl Ludwig Capelle ; * 1811 in Hanover ; † around 1857) was a German philologist , grammar school teacher , sub-principal and author who was committed to teaching French at secondary schools.

Life

Carl Ludwig Capelle was born in Hanover during the so-called " French era ". Until Easter 1830 he attended the local Lyceum (today: Kaiser Wilhelm and Ratsgymnasium Hannover ) and then studied theology and philosophy at the University of Göttingen .

In 1835 he became a collaborator in Ilfeld at the Royal Hanover Pedagogy there. After receiving his doctorate on July 11, 1840 at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Göttingen, he became sub-lecturer at the Ilfeld Pedagogy.

Capelle wrote a treatise on teaching the French language in grammar schools in the Easter program of the Ilfeld Pedagogy , which was published in 1843 as a special edition. In it, according to a review , he defended with great enthusiasm the French teaching he had demanded against contemporary resistance at secondary schools, which should also include academic access to the foreign language in order to promote the ability to think and judge in addition to the ability to speak.

He was the father of the later high school director Karl Ludwig Ernst Capelle, born on July 22, 1841 in Ilfeld .
