Johann Christian Jahn

Johann Christian Jahn (born January 15, 1797 in Stolzenhain an der Röder near Elsterwerda ; † September 19, 1846 in Leipzig ) was a German classical philologist and pedagogue .

Life

Jahn was born in Stolzenhain in 1797. He trained at the Royal Saxon Princely and State School Sankt Afra in Meissen. He studied philology at the University of Leipzig and earned a doctorate to Dr. phil.

In 1821 he became a collaborator at the Thomas School and in 1823 he became an adjunct at St. Augustin Grimma . From 1826 to 1829 he was a private lecturer at Leipzig University. In 1828 he again became a collaborator at the Thomas School. In 1835 he became vice rector . He died in Leipzig in 1846.

Jahn was editor of the yearbooks for philology and pedagogy .
