Carl Maria Savery

Carl Maria Savery , born August Martin Schumacher (* 1897 in Germany , probably in Hamburg , † 1969 ) was a music teacher and music therapist .

Life

Savery's mother was Italian , his father a hamburger named Schumacher. Savery became a pianist and came to Denmark at an early age , where he was naturalized. In Denmark he introduced the German folk music school in 1929 (including in Horsens ). He worked in Frederiksberg . After the Second World War he looked after Germans in the refugee camp Kløvermarken , a "refugee town", which made him an honorary citizen for his services in the field of "culture and entertainment" . Then he founded the "House of Friends" in Switzerland .

He had a doctorate. The musician Finn Savery is his son.
