Carl Newell Jackson

Carl Newell Jackson (born October 23, 1875 in East Saugus , † October 14, 1946 in Snowville ) was an American classical philologist .

Life

He earned an AB from Harvard in 1898 and a Ph.D. ( Quas partes equi habebant in religionibus Graecorum ) Harvard 1901. In 1915 he became a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences . He taught as the Eliot Professor of Greek Literature from 1937 to 1943.
