Oliver Friedli

Oliver Friedli (born July 1, 1977 in Zurich ) is a Swiss jazz musician ( piano , composition ) and sound designer.

Live and act

Friedli received her first classical piano lessons at the age of six. After graduating from high school, he spent a summer semester at the Berklee School of Music , before completing a degree at the professional department of the Swiss Jazz School in Bern, where he was tutored by the pianist William Evans . Then he deepened his studies in music and media art at the Bern University of the Arts , which he graduated in January 2005.

Since then he has been working as a freelance musician; he also teaches as a lecturer for sound design and media integration at the Bern University of the Arts. He led his own trio (with Fernando Fontanilles and Andreas Hoerni) and the sextet Hekiat with his wife, the singer Houry Dora Apartian . He also worked on the projects Fido Plays Zappa, Hornflakes, Tree Neye and Jonas Winterhalter's big band . He can also be heard on albums by Lisette Spinnler , Sam Burckhardt and the Swiss Army Big Band .
