Alex Hendriksen (born November 1, 1975 in Basel ) is a jazz musician ( tenor and soprano saxophone ) living in Switzerland .

Live and act

Hendriksen, who grew up in Schönenbuch as a child of Dutch and Australian parents , wanted to play the saxophone after attending the Bluesbrothers film; first he learned the flute , then saxophone. From 1994 he studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Hendriksen, who has been part of the Basel scene since his return and was active in various bands such as Grand Mother's Funck , released the album Back 2 Back in 2014 with Jean-Paul Brodbeck and Fabian Gisler , which focuses on duos. In 2019 he and Gisler presented the duo album The Song Is You . Tom Lord recorded 16 recording sessions for him between 1999 and 2018. He is also on albums by Chasper Wanner, Swiss Jazz Orchestra , Eliana Burki , Houry Dora Apartian & Hekiat Quincy Jones , Markus Stockhausen , Lisette Spinnler , Grand Mother's Funck, H2S2 and Udo Jürgens & Pepe Lienhard to hear. He also toured with the Bernese dialect band Patent Ochsner and wrote arrangements for Guggenmusiken .
