Carl Otto (entrepreneur)

Carl Otto , also Karl Otto , (born March 24, 1844 in Neustedt , † March 31, 1898 in Leipzig ) was a German insurance director.

Life

Otto was General Director of Leipzig Life and Fire Insurance .

He studied mathematics first in Göttingen and later in Berlin . Consequently he worked as a teacher in St. Goarshausen . Health reasons forced him to give up this work.

Dr. Otto joined the Leipzig Life Insurance Company on December 1, 1869. He soon became the Society's mathematician and was appointed auditor on January 1, 1873. In 1875 he played a key role in restructuring the company based on the new statutes.

On July 1, 1880, he was appointed director. On March 22, 1884 the board of directors awarded him the title of general director. Otto was considered a capacity in the field of insurance, which among other things introduced more accommodating insurance conditions. On February 8, 1895, he gave a lecture to King Albert of Saxony on the history of the Leipzig life insurance company.

In October 1896 he was appointed to the insurance advisory board of the state supervisory authorities in Prussia. Otto also took part in the meetings in the Reich Office of the Interior to pass a new Reich Insurance Act.
