Carl Uelze (born July 11, 1901 in Hanover , † November 23, 1985 in East Berlin ) was a German communist and resistance fighter against National Socialism .

Life

Uelze, a businessman by profession, was a member of the workers' sports association " Fichte Berlin " and from 1927 of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD). From 1932 to 1935 he worked for the Soviet trade agency in Berlin .

At the time of National Socialism he took part in the illegal resistance struggle of the KPD. Together with Martin Weise and Klaus Überbrück, he formed a resistance group in 1940 at the Berlin company Nordland Deutsche Schnee- und Gleitschutzkettenfabrik GmbH in Berlin-Tiergarten, Kurfürstenstrasse 14, which consisted mainly of senior employees. This group knew how to manage the capacity of the company in such a way that, without attracting attention, Nordland's war production was considerably reduced. They also provided the so-called Eastern workers and the French and Dutch conscripts with organized help. On December 1, 1942, Carl Uelze, his wife Hildegard Uelze (1915–1967) and Martin Weise were arrested by the Gestapo in Berlin . Carl Uelze and his wife were not assigned by the Gestapo to the Rote Kapelle investigation complex and were released on December 15, 1942.

After liberation from National Socialism , he became a member of the KPD again in the Soviet zone of occupation and in 1946 a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). He got responsible functions in the Berlin party organization and was from 1952 to June 1964 chairman of the SED district revision commission in Berlin. Then he was a simple member of the SED district revision commission in Berlin until May 1969. In addition, Uelze was chairman or member of the commission for the care of old deserved party members of the SED district leadership in Berlin.

Uelze died at the age of 84 and was buried in the Pankow III cemetery.
