Carla Ernst (born Karoline Kohn, May 15, 1867 in Vienna - June 16, 1925 ) was an Austrian theater actress .

Life

Ernst graduated from the drama school of the Vienna Conservatory and appeared in public for the first time in Prague in 1886. She was then engaged in Berlin at the Wallner Theater , the Meininger Theater and the City Theater in Graz. In 1891 she became a member of the Carltheater , where she acted as a representative of the naive amateur trade until 1895. Then she came to the Reichenberg City Theater (1896), the Residenztheater in Dresden (1898), the Breslau City Theater in 1899 and the Schillertheater in Berlin in 1900 , where she worked until at least 1902. In 1906 she was at the Small Theater. In 1913 she was a royal Saxon court actress. In 1916 she lived in Berlin.

She was acquainted with Arthur Schnitzler , who mentions her several times in his diary.

Her father's name was Heinrich (Abraham) Kohn (approx. 1920 - January 16, 1905), her mother Rebekka Regine Denneberg (died November 6, 1900), they had married in 1858 in Vienna-Fünfhaus. She had a brother, Isidoro A. Kohn (born Vienna, 1860), who ran a shop in Tupiza and was in contact with Albert Einstein , as well as a sister, Käthe Kohn (December 18, 1863 in Vienna – January 30, 1942, murdered in Litzmannstadt ), who was married to an authorized signatory at Credit-Anstalt, Alfred Sobotka (around 1866–1931).
