Carles Bosch de la Trinxeria (* 1831 in Prats de Molló , † 1897 in la Jonquera ) was a Catalan writer .

life and work

Carles Bosch de la Trinxeria was born into a small noble family in Vallespir , studied art and literature in Toulouse and natural sciences in Barcelona . He then settled in La Jonquera to manage his possessions, which were on both sides of the Franco-Spanish border. Very often he went on excursions and hikes.

As a member of the Catalan hiking clubs Associació Catalana d'Excursions Científiques and Associació Catalana d'Excursions, his first articles ( stories , descriptions, memories, notes on edification) appeared at a ripe old age in the news sheets of these clubs and in the magazine La Reinaixença . In 1887 he published a collection of articles entitled Records d'un excursionista (Memories of a Wanderer) , which was a great success right from the start. This was followed by the Pla i muntanya (1888), De ma collita (1890) and Tardanies (1892) collections.

His work belongs to the more conservative trend of the Catalan Renaixença and advocated a return to the way of life of the Ancien Régime . This attitude is paired with idealisms and a tendency towards romanticism , whereby he tried to overcome folklorism with the novels L'hereu Noradell (1889), Montalba (1891), L'hereu Subirà (1893) and Lena (1894).
