Carlo Contarini , (born July 5, 1580 in Venice ; † May 1, 1656 ibid) was the 100th Doge of Venice from 1655 to 1656 .

Carlo was the son of Andrea Contarini and Elisabetta Morosini . From his marriage to Paula Loredan, the future Procurator of San Marco Andrea Contarini emerged. Carlo Contarini was elected 100th Doge of Venice on March 27, 1655 after 68 ballots.

When he was barely ten days old, his father died. Heir to a great fortune and a respected name, he held numerous offices. In old age he had already withdrawn into private life. When no candidate won a majority after numerous ballots, Carlo was chosen as a compromise candidate. After a 13-month term in office, he died on May 1, 1656.
