Carlo Duse
Carlo Artemio Vittorio Duse (born January 5, 1898 in Udine , † August 9, 1956 in Rome ) was an Italian actor , screenwriter and film director .
Life
Duse comes from a family that produced numerous artists; Eleonora Duse was his father's niece. The beginning of his career took place on stage with well-known theater companies such as those of Antonio Gandusio , Amintore Galli or Ermete Zacconi , where he played the youthful hero.
From 1933 Duse also worked steadily for feature films as a character actor; In many costume films he interpreted insidious characters. Occasionally he was also in demand as a screenwriter; In 1939 and 1952 he directed two films himself.
