Carlo Ross
Carlo Ross (born February 7, 1928 in Hagen ; † August 12, 2004 there ; born as Karl Otto Ross ) was a German writer and survivor of the Holocaust .
Life
He grew up in Hagen as the son of a Jewish mother in poor circumstances without a father. After the war he worked as a journalist and later as a social worker in Hagen, Berlin and Regensburg . After his retirement he began to work as a writer and wrote books for young people and historical novels.
His fourth work "In the forecourt of Hell" was, like his first book "... but stones don't talk" and the prehistory of "In the forecourt of Hell", an autobiography . In the book Ross tells how he grew up and was deported to the Theresienstadt concentration camp in 1942. It was only thanks to lucky coincidences that he survived the Nazi dictatorship and the living conditions in Theresienstadt.
