Carlos Alberto Leite Barbosa (* 1936 in Minas Gerais ) is a former Brazilian diplomat .

Life

Carlos Alberto Leite Barbosa completed his schooling in Uberaba and completed in 1959 to study law at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro from.

In 1960, Barbosa was appointed third class counselor and one year later she was employed in the Jânio Quadros office. In 1963, in recognition of his achievement, he was promoted to second-class legation secretary. From 1965 to 1967, Barbosa headed the trade mission in Buenos Aires and was promoted to first-class legation secretary in 1968. As such, he was transferred to Madrid from 1969 to 1974, where he was appointed chargé d'affaires and promoted to the Legation Council in 1973. In 1978 he was promoted to second class envoy and in 1982 to first class envoy.

From January to July 1985 Barbosa was appointed as ambassador to Bogotá and one month later took over the chairmanship of the Instituto Brasileiro do Café until February 1986 . From January 19, 1987 to July 25, 1991, he was the ambassador in Rome , where he represented the Brazilian government at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations . Finally, he was appointed ambassador to Paris from September 30, 1991 to August 12, 1997 and then represented the Brazilian government to the Organization of American States until April 12, 2000 .
