Margaret Dayton is an American politician ( Republican Party ).

Life

Dayton graduated from Brigham Young University , where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for several years . After their marriage, she gave up her job and became a housewife.

In 1996, she was appointed to the Utah House of Representatives by Governor Michael Leavitt to fill the vacant seat of Lee Ellertson . In the next House election, Dayton was re-elected. She was a member of the Utah House of Representatives from July 25, 1996 to December 31, 2006. Since January 1, 2007, she has been a Senator in the Utah Senate for the 15th District.

The Utah System of Higher Education awarded her an honorary doctorate .
