Life

"El Monito" Carús began his active career in the 1952/53 season with his home club Atlético de Veracruz, who played in the second division . That season, Carús was top scorer in the Segunda División and committed by promoted Toluca during the summer break . Almost a year later, Carús was part of the Mexican squad , but was not used at the World Cup itself or in any other game of the Mexican national team.

His "masterpiece" he succeeded in a first division game in the late 1950s against Club León , in which national goalkeeper Carbajal guarded the goal. After the Esmeraldas had already taken a 2-0 lead, Carús scored three goals in just a few minutes to give his team a 3-2 victory.

After years of abstinence from professional football, the CD Tiburones Rojos Veracruz (not to be confused with his former club Atlético) was back in the second division from the 1961/62 season and Carús moved back to the city of his birth to join his home club in the 1962 seasons / 63 and 1963/64 actively support in the second division. At one of these games, his father, who was sitting in the stands, died of a heart attack. Carlos Carús himself died in 1997.

Individual evidence

  1. According to the first web link (below) he scored three goals, according to the second web link it was "only" two goals.
  2. The second web link reports that Carús was occasionally still active with CD Veracruz until the end of the 1965/66 season, which would mean that after their return to the Primera División in 1964 he could have played a few top division games.
