Carlos López Moctezuma

Carlos López Moctezuma Pineda (born November 19, 1909 in Mexico City , † July 14, 1980 in Aguascalientes ) was a Mexican actor .

Life

Carlos López Moctezuma, the eleventh and youngest son of a senior representative of the Mexican State Railroad, attended some of the best schools in the country and took acting lessons from Fernando Soler . After stage experience, he made his first film appearance in 1938 and, in the course of his 210-plus film career, developed into the model villain of Mexican cinema. His final breakthrough came with his interpretations of the villainous landowner Sandoval in Rio Escondido in 1948 and of Don Feliz in The Rebellion of the Hanged in 1954. Twice he interpreted Rodolfo Fierro , lieutenant under Pancho Villa , who was portrayed by Pedro Armendáriz .

He also remained attached to the theater; he led his own group of actors, which specialized in plays by foreign language authors. Since the beginning of Mexican television , López Moctezuma could also be seen in its theater programs.

After being nominated in 1946, López Moctezuma was awarded the Mexican film prize, the Premio Ariel , in 1949, 1953 and posthumously in 1982 .

In the mid-1930s he met the actress Josefina Escobedo (1914–1997), whom he married and with whom he had two sons.
