Carlos de Almeida Sarmento

Carlos de Almeida Sarmento is a politician from East Timor .

In the 2001 elections for the Constituent Assembly, Sarmento ran as a candidate for the Partai Liberal (PL), later Partidu Democrática Liberal (PDL). The PL could only win one seat, which was taken by party leader and list leader Armando José Dourado da Silva . With the independence of East Timor on May 20, 2002 , the assembly became a national parliament and Silva was a member of parliament. At times, Sarmento replaced Silva in his parliamentary seat.

The PL did not run for the new elections in June 2007 .
