The Mollepampa district is located in the Castrovirreyna province in the Huancavelica region in southwest central Peru . The district was established on June 20, 1965. It has an area of 171 km². The 2017 census counted 1226 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 1302, in 2007 it was 1550. The district administration is located in the 2465 m high village of Mollepampa with 149 inhabitants. Mollepampa is located 10 km west-southwest of the provincial capital Castrovirreyna .
Geographical location
The district of Mollepampa is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera south-central in the province of Castrovirreyna. The district is located on the west bank of the south-flowing Río Chiris, the right source river of the Río Pisco .
The Mollepampa district borders in the southwest with the district Huancano ( Pisco province ), in the west with the district Capillas , in the northwest with the district Huachos , in the north with the district Castrovirreyna , in the northeast with the district Cocas and in the southeast with the district Ticrapo .
