Nicola Sartori

Nicola Sartori (born July 17, 1976 in Terracina ) is a former Italian rower who won the Olympic bronze medal in double sculls in 2000.

Athletic career

The 1.90 m tall Nicola Sartori won the bronze medal in double fours at the Nations Cup in 1995 , a predecessor to the U23 World Championships . In 1996 he won the Nations Cup in singles and in 1997 in doubles. Also in 1997 he finished fourth in a double scull at the World Championships in the adult class. In 1998, as in the previous year, he won the Nations Cup , at the 1998 World Championships he finished fifth in the double scull. In 1999, Sartori competed in the single and reached sixth place at the world championships .

Also in the Olympic year 2000 Sartori initially competed in the single and finished sixth at the Rowing World Cup in Vienna and fifth in Lucerne. In Lucerne, Giovanni Calabrese and Alessandro Corona took seventh place in the double scull. Two months later, the 2000 Olympic Games took place in Sydney . There Giovanni Calabrese and Nicola Sartori competed in double sculls. They won the bronze medal almost four seconds behind the Slovenes, two and a half seconds behind the Norwegians and three seconds ahead of the fourth-placed Germans.

In the 2001 World Cup, Sartori and Simone Raineri took second place in Seville. At the 2001 World Championships , the two competed in double fours together with Mattia Righetti and Franco Berra . They won the bronze medal behind the boats from Germany and the Netherlands.

Nicola Sartori rowed for Fiamme Gialle , the sports department of the Guardia di Finanza .
