Carmen Martínez Sierra (born May 3, 1904 in Madrid , Spain; † November 6, 2012 ibid) was a Spanish opera singer (mezzo-soprano) and actress .

Life

Martínez Sierra began her stage career in 1920; as an opera singer specializing in mezzo-soprano, she appeared in numerous classics on the opera stage until the 1960s. In addition to the tenor Alfredo Kraus , she played in Rigoletto , Madama Butterfly and Cavalleria rusticana . In 1957 she began a second career as a film actress, which she had in numerous audiences, especially in the 1970s, and during which she worked with Spanish directors such as Basilio Martín Patino , Juan de Orduña , Pedro Masó , Pedro Lazaga and Antonio Mercero . In addition, she was seen on stages such as the Teatro Espanol in the capital of her home country. Her best-known roles were in La casa de los Martínez , the sitcom Yo vuelvo and in commercials for Telefónica .
