Carmen Trenz

Carmen Trenz (* 1951 ) is a German certified pedagogue and mediator from Cologne . She is considered a specialist in youth violence prevention with a focus on bullying .

Working life

After studying pedagogy and completing a diploma, Trenz first worked in open child and youth work, then in infant research, then at the Institute for Social Research and Social Policy (ISG) in Cologne.

Since 1981 she has been working in the “AG Child and Youth Protection” (AJS) Landesstelle NRW e. V. in Cologne. In 1983, together with the State Criminal Police Office of North Rhine-Westphalia, she founded the “Social Work and Police” work group, which was later expanded and renamed the “State work group for youth welfare, police and school”. The LAK has held numerous state-wide conferences that have advanced interdisciplinary cooperation in youth crime and violence prevention in North Rhine-Westphalia. Trenz gives lectures to parents, in schools and youth welfare institutions in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia . At the 11th German Prevention Day in 2006, she gave a lecture on the subject of “Mobbing among children and young people”. Her work focuses on information about "mobbing / bullying" and the communication of intervention approaches to solve cases of bullying. Since 2006 she has been organizing workshops on the “ No Blame Approach ” (NBA), a bullying intervention approach that has been evaluated by the commercial provider Institut Fairend for its client, the Association for Social Defense eV in Minden.

In 2008 and 2009 Trenz had lectureships on the subject of bullying among children and young people at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences , Department of Applied Social Sciences .

Carmen Trenz is considered to be one of the few practice-oriented German experts on the current issues and problems of child and youth violence prevention and their evaluation, on "Mobbing / Bullying" and on the "No Blame Approach".
